From the arrival of Simon Teakettle (the first) in 1972, our company policy has been to welcome all pets as friends. Both Simon the Elder and Simon the Younger (Tiki) made friends with the squirrels who live in the maple tree in our back yard, and learned not to chase either them or the birds who visit our feeders.

Simon the Elder met several dogs and many other cats in his long life, and Simon the Younger even made friends (well, sort of!) with a full-size Akita who lived across the street. For those of you who don't know dogs, the Akita is a huge northern dog who resembles a wolf.

Terzo is taking his pet friendships one step further.

First, he has accepted a special friend, Jazz, into the Simon Teakettle House Band.

Terzo also has a pen pal who lives far away in British Columbia. Mrs. Doyle is an African grey parrot, the most intelligent bird species in the world.
